Health and Wellness

Promoting a holistic, healthy campus climate

The Bucknell Farm promotes student health through access to nutritious foods and opportunities for recreation, spiritual practice, and nature study. The farm maintains an aesthetically pleasing natural landscape with an extensive walking trail.  Students have discovered the farm as a lovely place to study, walk or just relax.

In 2019, over 800 students visited the farm. Many volunteered and worked alongside the crew of Student Farmers to plant, tend and harvest tasty, nutrient-dense vegetables, feeding our campus. That is a lot of people spending time outdoors. We partner with the B-Eats Food Pantry to provide free produce for food insecure students, and we anticipate delivering our first vegetable order to Bucknell Dining in 2020, when students will begin seeing farm produce featured in the Bostwick and Bison cafeteria spaces. We are partnering with the University Chaplain and the Office of Religious and Spiritual Life to build a labyrinth for walking meditation, creating opportunities for reflection and a deeper connection to nature.
